Lost analyzed track data after app upgrade

After installing the update for the Pacemaker app all of the previously analyzed BPM and Match data is lost. With over 100 GB of music on my iPad it has been a huge chore manually loading all tracks individually to re-analyze. Should I be backing up the database file and copying it back after every update, or is there another solution? I imagine a default backup to the iCloud account might be the simplest and safest solution (if possible).

Also, out of interest are the cue points stored in the same database file? And have you considered allowing for multiple cue points within each track?

Sorry to hear about this. I've passed this onto the development team here at Pacemaker and they'll look into it to ensure that this doesn't happen again in the future. It's not possible to backup the database file as it's part of the application itself and can't be saved externally. The file is also specific to each device because of how iTunes stores and identifies tracks held on your device.

Cue points are stored in this file too, although as you're aware you can only have one per song. Multiple cue points is something we've been asked about but there hasn't been much of a demand for it. Thanks though for suggesting the idea again. The more people who ask for a feature, usually the quicker we're able to make it happen!

We're looking into this issue Christophe. When installing beta versions of Pacemaker, please click "Replace" to ensure that data is kept when installing a beta version of Pacemaker. Your analysed track information should be preserved this way. Unfortunately if your data has been lost, we can't bring it back but we are trying to prevent this from happening in the first place.

Same thing just happened to me (lost all info for the tracks on my phone). It took me hours and hours to play EVERY song so that it would be available as a relevant next choice. Rely unhappy as I shelled out rather a lot of cash for a pro account :(

Hi. All my analyzed songs were lost as well. It's been a few months because I haven't had time to load all 700 of my songs.

Do you have any new steps/tricks to analyze songs without loading all 700 one at a time? I have a party this weekend and want to pacemaker it!

Hey Brian,

Sorry to hear this. Having spoken with the team in the last 3 months, under a certain set of circumstances this is actually expected behaviour. We've made some changes to analysis recently which should improve accuracy as well as detected that some collections held within Pacemaker have been analysed incorrectly. When we detect this state, we have no option but to discard the library and force the tracks to all be re-analysed.

Unfortunately we don't have a better way of doing this process at present, but we're still looking into options.
