adding my own audio to a mix

Joshua Reno Jul 07, 2018 05:27AM CEST

Hello,

I am trying to create a mix for my wife and wanted to incorporate a short clip of our son laughing at the start. It is one of my "local files" on Spotify, but when I search for it through Pacemaker (though it appears) it cannot be clicked and loaded onto the mix. Is there someway that I can do this?

Thanks,

Josh

Hey Josh,

Unfortunately we don't support local files held in Spotify (or offline Spotify tracks) for that matter. If the music is licenced and avaliable worldwide in the Spotify catalog then it can be played back in Pacemaker. You could though save the audio as a mp3 file or wav and use iTunes on a computer to transfer it to your device. This would then be an iTunes track (local music) and could be added to the mix.

The mix though can't be published and shared with other Pacemaker users, but for local playback on your phone - this would work.

Thanks, that helps.

Do you know if a mix made on Pacemaker can be downloaded onto Spotify or can it only be played through Pacemaker?

Hey Josh,

Mixes made on Pacemaker can only be played back on Pacemaker. Spotify doesn't understand our mixing technology therefore it wouldn't be able to re-create the mix in the same way.

We don't record the audio of your mix either, we only save the recipie (the steps you took to make it). This means the mixes are really small and anyone else with Pacemaker can hear the same mix, just by you sharing the mix. With Pacemaker for iPhone this happens when you click "Publish". If you've added local tracks to a mix, the publish feature is unavalible as other people won't have access to the same music you used which was held on your device. Hope this explains things.
