Pacemaker Pausing on it's own

Jules Vansant Oct 30, 2019 05:19PM CET

Hi there,

This has been a recurring issue on and off. There doesn't seem to be any pattern or reason, but Pacemaker will all the sudden pause on it's own while I am coaching OrangeTheory classes. This is very disruptive and I do not know how to make it stop.

It happened yesterday (10/29/19) around 7:15pm EST and I just went over and hit play again and it kept working but there have been other times where I have hit play and then it will pause again in a minute or two.

Please help!

Hey Jules,

Sorry to hear this. I've looked into your account and can't see any obvious reason why this might be happening from our side. Spotify enforce that an account can only be used in once place at a time and when Pacemaker gets a notification from them that it's being used elsewhere, this is why the music is being paused.

If you happen to have Spotify connected to any other device and someone tries to play music from the same account, the music will pause. Devices could be for example:

- Another mobile phone logged in with same Spotify details.
- A laptop or computer also logged in with the same Spotify details.
- Smart Speakers, such as Amazon Alexa asked to play music from Spotify.
- Some In-Car Radio / Entertainment Systems, such as Tesla cars which offer direct access to Spotify.

We'd suggest looking at your Spotify account and the apps and services it's been linked to here:
https://www.spotify.com/account/apps/

This might help you identify where else the account is being used.
A Spotify family subscription allows you to create up to 6 Spotify accounts which can be used by individuals within a family at the same time (however each family member can still only use one device at a time).

Thanks Phillip!

I checked my Spotify account and I do not have any other devices or an Alexa that could be logging in. The only other place I access Spotify is from my ipad which I have with me in my bag when I am coaching. So no one else could be using it at that time and I do not own any Alexa's or smart devices that could access it without my knowledge.

Any other suggestions? Could it be an Apple dongle issue? The newer iphone don't have an aux port so I have to use the dongle to connect it to the studio aux cord.

Thoughts?

Hey Jules,

I've asked the team about the experience using an Apple lightning port to Mini-Jack connector. Unfortunately I don't have one personally that I can test with. Hopefully they'll come back with a suggestion after the weekend.
